My story begins with a personal tragedy. I lost my furry baby boy Gucci due to the negligence of a veterinarian who provided inappropriate treatment, which ultimately led to his death. The medication given to him the night before caused him to have seizures and go into complete kidney failure. It took three hours of negotiations at the same clinic, ten hours after my initial visit, before I was able to find out the name of the medication that had been administered to my pet. I was shocked to later discover that the medical director I had dealt with was currently on active probation due to professional violations. That's when I realized why she felt nothing they did was wrong, and her statement was, "People make mistakes; we are all human."

With limited resources and few legal protections in California for pets and their owners, I have been navigating the research process. This involves understanding the existing laws or lack thereof, as well as the regulations established by the Veterinary Medical Board (VMB). I am also trying to maneuver through the small claims legal process while striving to achieve justice for my furry baby, Gucci. My goal is to help other fur parents who are facing similar heartbreaking situations.
